Refund policy

Every book I sell is secondhand and one of one, so I describe each copy carefully: its own photographs, an honest condition grade, and a condition note written by me. Your rights, and my promise, both start from that description.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded, including that they are of acceptable quality and match their description. For secondhand books, acceptable quality takes into account the price paid and the condition I have disclosed in the copy's photographs, grade and condition note.

If a copy fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you are entitled to a remedy. Because every copy is one of one, a replacement is usually impossible, so the remedy will normally be a refund (for a major failure) or a repair, partial refund or refund (for a minor failure). You are also entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

My promise: not as described, made right

If the copy that arrives is not as I described it, contact me at hello@wattlebound.com within 30 days of delivery, with a photo or two of the problem. I will make it right: a full refund including your return postage, or a partial refund if you would rather keep the copy. I would genuinely rather know.

Change of mind

If a book simply is not what you hoped, you may return it within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the purchase price, provided it comes back in the condition it left me. Return postage for change of mind is yours; I recommend tracked post, as the book remains your responsibility until it reaches me. Change-of-mind returns are a goodwill offer on top of your legal rights, not a replacement for them.

Orders delivered into the European Union or United Kingdom

If your order is delivered into the EU or the UK, you also have a statutory right to cancel your order within 14 days of delivery, for any reason and without justification. If you exercise it, you will be refunded the purchase price and the standard postage you paid to receive the order; return postage is yours, and the copy must come back in the condition it left me. My 30-day change-of-mind window above is longer and works through the same process, and nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights at home.

Damaged in transit

I pack every book to survive the post. If one arrives damaged anyway, contact me within 7 days with photos of the parcel and the book, and I will refund or otherwise put it right. You will not be left out of pocket for postal damage.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to your original payment method, normally within 5 business days of my receiving the returned copy (or agreeing a refund without return). I will confirm by email at each step. Your bank or card issuer can take a few extra days to post the refund once it has been sent; if it has not appeared within 10 business days of my confirmation, email me and I will chase it.

Goods (totes, bookmarks, pins)

The same rules apply to Goods: full consumer guarantees, the same not-as-described promise, and the same change-of-mind window in unused condition.

How to start a return

Email hello@wattlebound.com with your order number and a note about what has gone wrong (or simply that you have changed your mind). I answer within 2 business days. Please do not post anything back before we have spoken; I will give you the return address then.
