Shipping policy

Where I ship

Everywhere Australia Post goes: Australia-wide and internationally. The shop ships from regional Queensland, Australia.

Postage

Postage is calculated at checkout before you pay, using Australia Post rates for your address and the parcel's size and weight. There are no hidden handling fees, and packaging is on me.

Dispatch

I pack every order myself, and books leave the shop within 2 business days of your order. This is a one-person shop, so on the rare occasion dispatch will take longer (I am unwell, or away sourcing books), a notice will appear on the site and I will email you.

Delivery times within Australia

Once posted, delivery is in Australia Post's hands, and I will be honest with you: shipping from regional Queensland, the slower end of these estimates is common, and Australia Post has its slow weeks. As a guide:

  • Parcel Post: typically 2 to 7 business days, and sometimes longer for WA, NT, Tasmania and other regional addresses.
  • Express Post: typically 1 to 3 business days, where offered at checkout. If a book is a birthday present, choose Express and give it a week of headroom.

Around Christmas, and during postal peak periods, add several days to everything. You will receive tracking by email the moment your order ships.

International delivery

International orders are sent with Australia Post International Standard, with tracking. As a guide, delivery typically takes 6 to 18 business days depending on the destination, and can be longer where customs processing intervenes.

Any customs duties, import taxes or brokerage fees charged by your country are your responsibility and are not included in the price or postage. Prices are in Australian dollars.

When the post is slow (the contingency plan)

A slow parcel is not a lost parcel, but you should never be the one doing the worrying. Here is exactly how it works:

  1. Check the tracking first. Most "missing" parcels are moving, just slowly.
  2. Domestic orders: if your tracking has not moved for 5 business days, or your parcel has not arrived within 10 business days of dispatch, email hello@wattlebound.com and I will lodge an enquiry with Australia Post the same week.
  3. International orders: if your parcel has not arrived within 25 business days of dispatch, email me and I will open an investigation with Australia Post.
  4. You do not wait for the investigation. If a domestic parcel has not arrived within 20 business days of dispatch, or an international parcel within 45 business days, I will treat it as lost and refund you in full, whatever Australia Post's investigation later decides. Because every copy is one of one, a replacement is impossible, so a full refund is the remedy.

You will not be left out of pocket for a delivery failure, and you will not have to chase anyone except me.

Damaged in the post

I pack every book to survive it; secondhand books have come this far and will not be defeated by the post on my watch. If one arrives damaged anyway, the Return and refund policy covers it: photos within 7 days and I will put it right.

Local pickup

Not offered at present; Wattle Bound Books is an online bookshop.
